Karapiro

Day 21, Monday 11 September 2017

Another day with gusty winds and occasional heavy showers. I’m looking forward to experiencing dry roads, because I can’t quite remember what they’re like.

I went south to Karapiro today, and looked out over the Karapiro dam, which you can drive or ride over. The dam produces hydroelectric power, one of eight power stations on the Waikato River. It creates Lake Karapiro, a venue for rowing competitions.

Despite the weather, I had sunshine at Karapiro with a lovely view over the lake.

Distance travelled: 345 km. Total distance so far: 2970 km
