Lake Rototoa

Day 72, Wednesday 1 November 2017

Lake Rototoa is the largest fresh-water lake in the Auckland Region, but I doubt many residents have ever heard of it. It’s at the northern end of Kaipara Harbour’s South Head. It looks pretty, but there was a sign saying “DO NOT ENTER” due to hunting in the area, and although the dates given on the sign had elapsed, I decided not to walk down to the lake.
