Waioeka Gorge

Day 254, Wednesday 2 May 2018

I came home solo from Gisborne today, leaving the rest of the group to go south to Hawke’s Bay and across the Gentle Annie road to Taihape. The highlight of my ride today was the Waioeka Gorge, on the Gisborne to Opotiki Road. This area has a rich history, which is explained on placards on numerous rest stops along the way. The history is explained very well, and the scenery rivals the East Cape road on anything other than a bright sunny day.
