I took an Auckland Ulysses ride around the Kaiaua loop today. As there are limited options for lunch in the area—the Kaiaua Fish and Chip shop is very good but not a cafe, and the Pink Shop is a dairy which sells some food—we decided to head further south. The Black Beagle Cafe is on State Highway 2 just north of the junction with SH 25. They were happy to accommodate our ten people turning up without notice, and had a good range of food and a comfortable atmosphere. One of my companions is now planning to change the destination of the next ride he leads to here.
