Waiatarua wetlands

Day 284, Friday 1 June 2018

I went to Waiatarua Reserve today, a wetland in Remuera. At 20 hectares, it is New Zealand’s biggest urban wetland restoration project. There’s a gravel track going right around the wetland, with observation platforms at several points. The track takes about 60 minutes to walk around. Most of it allows dogs (on-leash in some places), and the majority of other people I saw were walking dogs.

Distance travelled: 19 km. Total distance so far: 37,099 km
