I rode to Rangiriri today, as I knew that a new commemoration site had opened to mark the Battle of Rangiriri since my last visit there in August 2017. The changes include a parking area, which was definitely needed, but otherwise it’s a “symbolic interpretation” of the paa, with almost no explanation of the structures added. There are older boards explaining the battle but they have not been added to. It looks good, but I was disappointed.
