Eaves Bush

Day 293, Sunday 10 June 2018

I rode to the Alice Eaves Scenic Reserve on the north side of Orewa today. This 16 hectare patch of native forest is on a steep hillside. Paths consisting mostly of steps run through it. There’s a lookout point near the middle, but trees have grown up around it since it was built and there is no longer a view. There are lots of kauri trees here and many other mature native trees. Signs along the paths identify many of the plants. It’s a peaceful place.

Distance travelled: 85 km. Total distance so far: 38,019 km
