Day 297, Thursday 14 June 2018
I rode around Lake Pupuke in Takapuna today. The lake fills the craters of two old volcanoes which erupted about 200,000—250,000 years ago. This gives it a distinctive heart shape. On a nice day, as it was today, the lake is very pretty. I would have liked to have walked around it, but although there are several reserves on the shoreline, there are also substantial areas which are private property and not accessible to pedestrians.
Distance travelled: 33 km. Total distance so far: 38,411 km
