I joined a North Harbour Ulysses ride today which took the road from Paparoa north to Oakleigh, This is about 40 kilometres of gently winding country road, with mostly good surfaces and views over the countryside. There was no other traffic. This is close to motorcycling heaven.
We stopped for lunch in Waipu, then followed the winding road from Waipu Cove to Mangawhai and then south to Dome Valley. This is also a lovely road for motorcyclists, but there’s usually other traffic and limited opportunities to pass, so it’s not quite as good as the Paparoa-Oakleigh Road.
