Atuanui Scenic Reserve

Day 331, Wednesday 18 July 2018

I rode with North Harbour Ulysses up to Port Albert today. After lunch, two of us rode up the gravel Kaipara Hill Road to the Atuanui Scenic Reserve, which is probably better known as the area around Mount Auckland. The road has nice views over rugged countryside, and a small carpark gives access to a steep track up the hill. It takes about 90 minutes to walk to the summit, and a similar time to walk back, so we were not willing to try this in our motorcycle gear in the mid afternoon. It is a walk I would like to do some other time.
