Day 180, Saturday 17 February 2018.
I visited Omana Regional Park, near Maraetai, today. The tide was well out, but several families were making use of the barbecue facilities, and one group of people were playing cricket on the beach while another were playing netball nearby. The beach is shelly.
I then rode along Omana Esplanade, which is a pretty stretch along the coast, although there are frequent speed bumps and patches of cobblestone. The beach becomes more sandy, then turns to rocky, and goes back to shelly again. At the end is Tracey’s Walk, part of the Beachlands-Maraetai Walkway. I followed this around to the Maraetai Beach Boat Club, encountering along the way a wedding party, several cyclists, and a little secluded beach with people swimming.
