Day 286, Sunday 3 June 2018
Onepoto is a volcanic explosion crater about a quarter of a million years old. It’s in the Auckland suburb of Northcote, and has been a park since 1975. A lake, which covers part of the area, is used by radio-controlled boat enthusiasts. After this morning’s heavy rain, the lake was overflowing. There’s an extensive children’s playground, with a bicycle track and adventure playground, some sports fields, and a track through native forest and wetlands, which was rather muddy in places today.
Distance travelled: 22 km. Total distance so far: 37,283 km
